The Game Leg

Beast Slayer

Objective: Shoot off the Beast’s legs and then take its head! OR defend the beast by demolishing your opponent! Load your shooter with metal BBs: the Beast Slayer’s BBs are engraved with words of power. Knock off a leg with a single shot and take another (skip your opponent). Once you’ve knocked off all the legs, blast the Beast’s head with power words until it erupts!

If you’re playing as the Acolyte, your job is to block your opponent’s BBs with your own (engraved with words of dread!). Every BB blocked gets you a shot at the Slayer’s avatar. Three direct hits and the Slayer’s slain!

Game includes: One gameboard, 2 shooters, six sets of six metal BBs (three engraved with words of power and three with words of dread), one Slayer Avatar, one Beast body with 31 blastable legs, one Beast head, one tub of Beast Brain Goo!

Instructions

Leg 29 – The Game Leg: Write a microfiction about a made-up game.

Physical, digital, children’s game, cursed game, board game, whatever.

Explain the rules, write a manual. Make up the rules. Have fun when they bite!

Leg 30:

The Chat Leg

OGDAR_THE_BARBARIAN: What time for smashing? 👊💥

SLYTLYTHIEFY: Dude, can’t you string together a coherent sentence? 🙄

LOST_LORD_ADRAGORN: Don’t all the kids talk like that these days? Like IYKYN and LMK and stuff? Makes my eyeballs hurt.

IAMNED: You two be nice to him. 😇 Og, we’re meeting at the dungeon entrance at 6 PM.

OGDAR_THE_BARBARIAN: TY ND YMH 💕

LOST_LORD_ADRAGORN: See? What the hell is that?

SLYTLYTHIEFY: Maybe he’s talking about Tyndr? And that last one would be Your Most Hairiness.🫈

LOST_LORD_ADRAGORN: Hahaha, that is too funny. And very apt (he’s quite hairy).

SLYTLYTHIEFY: Which is why I said that… 🙄

OGDAR_THE_BARBARIAN: Maybe me not come. Who smash baddies then?! 😡

LOST_LORD_ADRAGORN: Oh, no! What would we ever do without Muscle Brain the Magnificent?

OGDAR_THE_BARBARIAN: TY AD ❤️💙💙

IAMNED: *sigh* he said thank you, Ned, you’re my hero. Now, let’s get off the chat. We need to practice. It would suck to get trounced by something lame, like a mimic, because we weren’t on our A game.

SLYTLYTHIEFY: 😝🖕

Instructions

Leg 30 – The Chat Leg: Write a microfiction as a fictional chat exchange.

Texts, Discord, WhatsApp, DMs, Slack, comments. Things like these.

Let the story and/or plot happen through messages only. Use timestamps, deleted messages, typos, reactions, anything you want.

The Dear Substack Letter Leg

To Substack Admin,

It came to my attention that you not only harbor accused rapist and human trafficker Andrew Tate, but that you actively platform and aid him in generating profits while teaching others how to groom, abuse, and suppress women, as well as spreading misogyny, racism, nazism, and pro-terror content. This should not have come as a surprise (although it did), given the sheer number of nazi and manosphere accounts thriving in your cesspool of a platform. It is my judgment that if you support Andrew Tate, you would likewise have supported and platformed Jeffrey Epstein, and I want no part of it. In response to that discovery, I removed all of my content and deleted my publications.

Instructions

Leg 31 – The Dear Substack Letter Leg: Write your final microfiction as a letter, or a confession, or a bug report addressed directly to “Dear Substack.”

You’ve survived thirty days, but at what cost? Report your trouble to tech support. Demand. Argue. Treat the platform as a sentient, indifferent algorithm, a deity, or anything else that demands constant feeding time.

Sign off. The Beast is slain now. We’ve done it.

Ha, this is a fun batch! Excluding the letter at the end, that’s just perfect. Great work!

Thanks! It was a lot of fun to do. I haven’t done prompts or a collab in quite a while
